Celina Podcast: Celina, Texas is very good about supporting those in our community that need our help. One of those people is Karla Vargas. Karla runs the Horse and Donkey Rescue located just north of Brookshire's on Preston Road.
karla travels all over the state saving donkeys from the kill pens. She brings them back to Celina and begins the process of rehabbing them, getting them medical treatment and ultimately, forever homes.
Ron Lyons, local Celina, Texas Realtor and host of The CelinaRadio.com Podcast asked mayor Sean Terry and Police Chief John Cullison to engage in a friendly indoor fishing competition. Of course both agreed!
The purpose of the challenge is to help bring awareness to Karla Vargas efforts to save donkeys. But, there's more riding on this challenge than just good will. In order to make things more interesting and fun, Ron Lyons had both the Mayor and Police Chief agree that the loser of the challenge would take lunch from Papa Gallos and hand deliver it to the winner. Also, the winner gets a donkey at the rescue named in their honor. Imagine having a donkey named "Chief" or "Mayor" or even "John" or "Sean."
